After
a couple days in London, we headed out into the countryside.
A train ride westwards took us to the old city of Bath, site of the
famous ancient Roman baths.
Every
British town seems to have a central cathedral. Here's Bath's.
A
close-up of the Virgin on the facade. Looks rather "manish",
doesn't she...
The
aforementioned Roman bathing complex.
Carl
and Space Monkey pose with some other buff dude.
We
were rather struck by the coolness of these statues... until we found
out they
were added later. WAY later. Like last year.
This
is a recovered piece from the facade of the temple that used to be adjacent
to
the bath complex. Scholors aren't quite sure who it depicts, this sun-god
medusa lion-like
old man. Our take was that is was obviously the chief alien who built
this "bath" complex.
Faith
pauses by the still-working water system that feeds the main pool.
Carl
does the same, but not as well.
