So that was pretty much it for the Vatican Museums. (Just for the record,
this photo was
taken by Faith and art directed by Carl).
We headed back out to the sqaure for a bit of fresh
air. There's Faith reading a paper.
Hmm...
now that's interesting. We should ask someone about this while we're here...
So
with one last look back on the Vatican, we started the long trip back
to Italy.
Ok we're there. Next up was finding some grub.
And we didn't want pub food or
cheese sandwiches tonight. We wanted a solid Italian dinner.
Now
we're talking.
Dinner
at this little place on west side of town was supurb.
Some half-submerged ruins ws saw on the walk back
that night.
Next
day we visited a little-known church called St Peter in Chains. Not as
kinky as you
might think. But it does have a number of cool things...
Namely
Michelangelo's Moses.
And
the "actual" chains that imprisoned St. Peter.
Not
to mention this really, really scary death guy. Not ok. Not ok.
And
here we are rounding out the sights. These are the famous Spanish Steps.
Attractive young men and women used to congregate here in hopes that one
of Rome's many famous artists would pick them to model for something or
other.
And the ever-popular Trevi fountain. Legend says that
whoever throws a coin into the pond is
ensured a trip back to Rome. Carl says that if the Church wants more money,
they should just
for it. No need to be devious.
And that was Rome. Overall quite an awesome place.
But we had alot more to see still
before our cash reserves gave out completely. So it was back on the rails
and even further
south we went.
