This is Tiormina. A small town that sprawls on and around the seaside cliffs
on the northeastern coast of Sicily.

It's simply breathtakingly beautiful.

Although it's unfortunately been discovered by both tourists and the
European jet-set scene.

But like many other parts of Italy, there's stuff lying abotu everywhere. This place
was evidently pretty popular a long time ago too.

This area is what remains of an ancient amphitheater. This place was huge
and it overlooked the sea... not a bad place to catch a flick.

It's got stadium seating (but no cup holders).

Amazingly, Carl only got yelled at once for climbing on something he shouldn't.

Yeah sure, tough guy... you just found an ancient artifact. Put the rock down.

A shot down at some secluded beaches. You can see the train tracks from this
vantage too. In order to get up to the tow itself, you needed to catch a bus up the
mountainside.

This place has got 360° of spectacular views.

As we wandered into the "non-ruinous" part of Tiomina, we stumbled across
this festive parade. They were evidently celebrating some aspect of their heritage...

Bah, enough of this! We're American! Let's get some beer and pizza!

Here's a shot of Mt Etna taken as we decended back down to the train station.

Well, that was it for Sicily. After Tiormina, we caught a train up to Messina and then
over and back up to Naples. From there we made our way down the "heel" of
Italy to a little place called Brindisi. We stayed overnight there as we waited to
catch the ferry over to Greece.
