And here we are. Inside the cathedral and taking our usual photo
from atop the main aisle.

These ribbed vaults help identify this place as quintessentially gothic.

Well, that and this old guy. This is Bob, our free tour guide. He was
actually originally from the States and looked old enough to have
helped build this thing
.

Here's Bob explaining some of the story detail evident on the church's
front facade. In the background, Faith tried not to nod off.

Here's the outside of the great rose window..

Click here to see a small (and sideways) video of us outside. We realized that
we had plenty of memory left on our card so we decided to use it to capture
the sound of the cathedral's famous bells. It's Quicktime, so you'll need that.

And here's the inside. This window was pretty impressive, but we'd seen
better down the street at San Chapelle.

It was atually an extremely comprehensive tour.

I think Bob - being a retired history teacher - really got into it .

This free tour lasted almost 3 hours. Should we be taking notes, Bob?

Here we go. After Notre Dame 101 we tossed down a couple of our few remaining
euros and climbed up to the roof to see the gargoyles.

And the view isn't that bad either. There's the Eiffel Tower over there.

Coolness.

This stuff was all pretty neat. .

Definitely one of the highlights of the trip, being up here
.

Looking upwards at one of the bell towers.
