Our
last full day in Salzburg, we decided to catch one of the many bus tours.
We opted NOT to take the famous and highly-touristed "Sound of Music
Tour",
and instead decided on an excusion into the Bavarian Alps.
So technically, this page of photos is in Germany,
not Austria...
...
but it's pretty much all the same. Gorgeous.
The tour itself sort of sucked, but the chance
to be in the middle of these
mountains was well worth it.
Hard to see here, but this is actually a much zoomed-in
shot of the mountain
on the photo above. That small structure on the side of the peak is dubbed
the "Eagle's Nest" and was Hitler's mountain retreat. Mmmm,
history.
Lots
of mountain shots here. Probably because there were lots
of mountains...
Hey,
there's another!
But
as many as there are, some sights are just stunning.
And
some of these small mountain villages were breathtakingly beautiful.
