Carl's
"I am the coolest person alive" pose.
You
know, back in college I thought I knew the name of these famous pillars
from
my Art History classes. I want to say it's the Temple of Athena Nike,
but I could be wrong.
Then again, back in college I thought I knew alot of things....
GOOD
GOD! He's huuuge! Call in the army! He'll destroy the whole city!
No
wait! Much better. (I'm sitting here making jokes when in actuality, getting
my
picture taken in front of the Parthenon is something I've wanted to do
since I was
a little kid. It was an amazing thrill to have gotten my ass out of Norwood
long
enough to actually
do it.)
After
we'd had our fill of the Acropolis, we continued on with our exploring.
Here's a shot back at it from the Ancient Agora, a large area at the foot
of
the Acropolis that is known as the commercial and public center of ancient
Athens.
Here's one of the more intact temples.
Scram
Tommy, don't give her the weight room line.
Looks like Hercules over there woke up one of the gods...
Hey,
nice.. cat. (aww, how cute is this).
Another
look back on the Acropolis. Like most skyscrapers are in the
States, this thing absolutely dominates the Athenian skyline. It's that
big.
Hiding
out in one of the many archeological / excavation museums.
After
a long hot day of walking, nothing hits the spot like some
watery beer and a few shots of ouzo. This ouzo bar was actually
on of my favorite sights in all of Athens...
